Cougar Getting, Jr. was born primarily as a fun project to play parties and special events for The Venice Vintage Motorcycle Club. Core members Zach and Farin are both VVMC brothers and working musicians with several other projects, but sprang into action when called upon to play a surprise birthday party for fellow brother “Fast” Eddie in January 2015. Quickly learning songs by Billy Joel, Don Henley, The Cars, U2, Beastie Boys, ACDC, Tom Petty, David Bowie, Weezer, Talking Heads, Pixies, Traveling Wilburys, The Band, Prince, Psychedelic Furs, Violent Femmes, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, and Madonna, they recruited Bobby Alt and Jeffrey Howell from the band National Anthem and made their debut at The Mint in Los Angeles. Joined at subsequent shows by various other LA musicians including Matt Rowe, Dakota Clark, Joe Travers, Nick Milo, Chris Pink, Zach Thistle, Sal Cortez, Bob Hamel, and Ijeoma Njaka, CGJr has added a set of 70's classics from Thin Lizzy, The Stooges, The Sweet, MC5, ELO, Led Zeppelin, Ramones, and The Clash for its 2019 lineup. The band continues to make fools of themselves and rock the LA club and motorcycle circuit.
