Nearly six months after Smash Mouth’s original lead singer Steve Harwell announced his retirement, the band has officially named Zach Goode as their new frontman — marking the start of a brand-new era for the multi-platinum hitmakers behind “All Star,” “Walkin’ on the Sun,” and “I’m a Believer.”
The reveal arrived March 1 during Kevan Kenney’s Audacy show, where longtime bassist Paul De Lisle confirmed the news in true Smash Mouth fashion — with a cheeky Rickroll-style fake-out before introducing the band’s new singer. “His name is Zach Goode, he’s from Brooklyn, Provincetown, New York City via L.A., and we’re very, very happy to have him on board,” De Lisle said with a smile.
Goode — known for his dynamic vocals and electrifying stage energy — becomes only the second lead vocalist in Smash Mouth history. With Harwell stepping back, Smash Mouth is signaling a fresh chapter: new shows, new music, and a renewed commitment to the fans who’ve been shouting “SomeBODY!” for over two decades.
